Man breaks puzzles with word Conflict. Resolution of disputes and conflicts in negotiations. Come to

The United Nations has a vital role in this regard since its founding. Examples include preventing conflict through non-official good officers, facilitators, and mediators in Finland during 1949-1950, the India-Pakistan conflict, and the Iron Problem in 1955-1956—the activities connected with peace missions, investigations, good officers, mediation, conciliation, ad-hoc processes.

The related activities conducted by the United Nations are preventive measures, including the United Nations Department of Political Division since 1978 in Iran-Iraq and Cyprus, but failed in Uganda-Rwanda. Fortunately, considering the circumstances at that time, it was deemed essential to exert influence but could not reduce problems among conflicting groups.

Article 33 of the UN Charter is one of the key provisions for conflict resolution and long-term peace and stability. It ensures parties remain engaged in dialogue and peacefully resolve the conflict. Under Article 33, mediation, arbitration, and judicial settlement are preventive diplomacy measures. By the purposes and principles of the Charter, the United Nations shall act to prevent the occurrence of disputes and the use of force and facilitate the resolution of conflicts.

The idea of preventive diplomacy is also directed to the nature of a conflict, even non-violent strife. However, it might be the source, and the risk factor is a critical determinant.
